Geboren in 1944 als het jongste kind van een tuinbouwer uit West-Friesland (Noord-Holland).
Zijn middelbare schoolopleiding (HBS-B) kreeg hij op het St. Werenfridus-Lyceum te Hoorn.
Van 1962 tot 1966 studeerde hij Wis- en Natuurkunde aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam.
Vele jaren later, van 1990 tot 1996, volgde hij aan de Universiteit van Leiden de studie
Kunstgeschiedenis. Hij werkte een groot deel van zijn leven aan het Informatiseringsinstituut
van de Faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen van de Universiteit van Amsterdam.
Een aantal jaren geleden legde hij zich toe op de fotografie en sinds korte tijd ook op het
maken van digitale composities. Op deze terreinen is hij autodidact.

From 1962 to 1966 he studied Mathematics and Physics at the University of Amsterdam.
Many years later, from 1990 to 1996, he studied Art History at the University of Leiden.
He worked for a large part of his life at the Informatiseringsinstituut of the Faculty of Social
Sciences of the University of Amsterdam.
A few years ago he focused on photography and recently also on the
creating digital compositions. He is self-taught in these areas.
